What We Know

The 2010 Hyundai Verscruz will offer a diesel engine as an option in the U.S. according to Hyundai CEO Dong Jin Kim. The executive said the engine will be available once it is adapted to meet 50-state emissions standards. The Veracruz, a seven-passenger crossover, is Hyundai's top-end model in the United States, currently priced starting at just under $27,000 with a 3.8-liter gasoline V6 engine. The Hyundai-developed engine, a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel that makes 240 horsepower, is already sold in the Veracruz in the home market of Korea and in Europe.

What Edmunds.com says

As fuel efficiency becomes a top issue on buyers minds, the 2010 Hyundai Veracruz diesel will most likely offer some of the best EPA numbers in the segment.
